The High Court has disposed of the PIL on 21st August, 2026, observing that the National Green Tribunal is already dealing with the larger issue concerning pollution and preservation of River Ganga in relation to Uttarakhand. The petitioner has been granted liberty to approach the NGT by filing an intervention application in OA No. 200/2014 or an independent application, as advised. No further proceedings remain pending in this writ petition before the High Court.

On 21st August, 2026, the High Court of Uttarakhand disposed of Writ Petition (PIL) No. 105 of 2026 after noting that the National Green Tribunal is already seized of the larger issue relating to pollution in River Ganga. The Court reserved liberty to the petitioner to approach the NGT by intervention or independent application. All pending applications were also disposed of.
The petitioner should approach the National Green Tribunal by moving an intervention application in OA No. 200/2014 or by way of an independent application, as may be advised.; With the aforesaid liberty reserved in favour of the petitioner, the present writ petition stands disposed of.; All pending applications stand disposed of accordingly.
